Pediatric Applications of Therapeutic VR

Children are among the most vulnerable patients in healthcare. It is vital to find ways to engage the pediatric population in ways that are safe and effective. Immersive technologies represent a new form of therapeutic intervention for children that has potential to offer both clinical benefits and enjoyment during often difficult illness experiences. In this breakout session, we will hear from four of the top researchers seeking ways to improve quality of life, reduce pain, and minimize stress for children undergoing medical procedures and managing difficult acute and chronic conditions. Led by pediatric VR pioneer Jeff Gold, the panel will explore the unique challenges and potential risks of using VR and related technologies in this population.
